Old farmhouse
Simple idea becomes a full-fledged project
The customer had bought an old farmhouse that was to serve as a country house for themselves and for receiving guests. Therefore, they wanted to furnish it in a more simple way.
Through the love and attention that both she and House of Porters put into it, it eventually grew into a full-fledged housing project.
The structural work on this farmhouse was fully completed when House of Porters walked into it for the first time. The original intention of furnishing it as a simple weekend home soon turned into a fully-fledged residential project.
By using different techniques, we transformed the austere base into a rural and charming atmosphere.
For the interior walls, we opted for a pudding arrangement and we greyed all oak. To make the modern passage look more natural, old beams were integrated and an old truss from the barn was also given a place in the house. To accentuate the authentic character, the wooden ceiling was patinated and the PVC windows were given a steel look with a light rusty patina.
To make the weekend stay fresh and airy, we used colour tones in the lounge and jute and linen in the furniture. The furnishings were mainly from the House of Porters collection and custom-made.
